What should I do when approached by beggars?
When the question of What shouldI do when approached by beggars? Arives. There are two angles you can look at. The first is the pigrims seekingalms, and the other are professional beggars.
In Tibetan culure, Religious beggars like people prostrating around the Barkhor street are accepted by sociely in Tibet. Donating money or food 1opilgrims brings you great merit, Usually, people from far away distances travel 1o Lhasa on pilgrims by prostrating to Lhasa. While they arrive in Lhasa, they would finish all their materials and depend on begging for survival and funds for returning to their home
But they are many child beggars., Please do not give them any dime. Our Government providesfree and compulsoryeducations and annual rations forchildren attending school, Many do not see the prospect of education over the short time smallincome made by their children begging in the streetGiving money to these young beggars discourages their self-reliance.
So we would encourage you to give alms for those pilgrims, yet we strongly discourage you from giving money to beggars. For more information relating to question like, What should I do when approached by beggars? please do write to us at [email protected]

What documents do i need to board flight to Tibet?
To answer the question, What documents do I need to board the flights to Tibet? We will have to see it from two scenarios. One is while coming toTibet from the other parts of China, and the Other is while coming to Tibet from Nepal.
The first scenario is when you flyto Lhasa from other cities in China, Here you should have the original copy of your Tibet Travel Permit. They willnot allow you to board the fight without it In such a case, we wil have to either send you the permit to your address in China orhave someonemeet you at the airport.
1.If you are staying overnight anywhere in China, we can send the permit to yourthat hotel. Thus you will have to send us your hotel address in bothEnglish and Mandarin, phone number, and your booking number.2.Many travellers often would not choose 1o spend a night in transit cities and take a consecutive fight 1o Lhasa. Therefore, we would stronglyrecommend you to change your fight to Tibet at the Chengdu airport. The first reason is there is more flight to Lhasa than compared with anyother city in China. The second reason is it is easier for us to arrange some to go to the airport in Chengdu.
The second scenario is when you fly to Lhasa from Kathmandu. First of all when you travel to Tibet from Kathmandu, please remember, you wilneed to get a special Visa called a Chinese Group Visa from the Chinese Embassy in Nepal. So don't apply it from home. This visa is a two A4paper visa. One is for your arival at the Lhasa airport, and Another one is for your departure. So you must have both paper visas upon arival inLhasa. So please do not leave it at Kathmandu Airport, Your Tibet travel permits await you at the Lhasa airport with your guide. She will meet youat the airport and help you proceed with the permit checkpoint before exiting from the airport.
